The following technical documents are available to help you understand how
you can build your own transmitter: Encoder revision 4.0
Firmware for the revision 4.0 Encoder. There are two sets for firmware for the rev 4.0 Encoder: 1.) The adapter version for use in the rev 3.0 encoder with an upgrade adapter installed. 2.) The rev 4.0 PC board version for use in the new encoder PC board. Adapter versions:
There is only one bootloader version and it works on both the rev 4.0 encoder PC board and the upgrade adapter. Every adapter I ship and every PC board with a PIC installed also has the bootloader installed. You should only need this file if you are installing and programming your own PIC. You will need a programmer to install this file into a PIC.

1.) change snap buttons to allow sticks to still function, A,E,R only 2.) Fixed bug in the throttle stick timer enable 3.) Fixed bug in the stick position switch function 4.) Added stick speed control to select aircraft and percentage 5.) Add message to indicate you are in slave mode 6.) Beep when the trims are set to zero 7.) Added servo slew rate control to channel 5 and 8 8.) Allow the user to select the RF deck ref osc frequency 9.) Allow adjustment of the framing rate and frame time defect |

RF Deck
The RF Deck can be built two ways. In standalone mode a PIC mircrocontroller is used to configure the PLL when power is applied. This PIC will read the frequency selection switches and program the PLL for the selected channel. The RF Deck can also use the Encoder to configure the PLL. In the standalone mode you will need to program the PIC, this download will give you the firmware you need, in Intel HEX format.
The PIC processor used in the Encoder (revision 3.0 only) can be programmed using my In Circuit Programmer hardware and my ICP.EXE DOS program or you can use the ICP feature in the PC application available above (revision 3.0 only). These downloads contains the documentation and the ICP.EXE program. Using this system you can program the PIC without removing it from the Encoder. You will, however, need a eraser to remove the old PIC programming before you can reprogram the PIC. If you are using the revision 4.0 Encoder you need no special hardware to download new version of the software, just the PC application. |
